Gamja Jorim is a delicious side dish of Korean braised potatoes, cooked in a sweet and savory sauce. It’s a popular dish in Korean BBQ, offering a unique, savory contrast alongside the grilled meat!

Ingredients
500 g small potatoes
1 onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp vegetable oil
250 ml water
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp honey
1 spring onion, finely chopped
Preparation method for Gamja jorim
1. Wash the small potatoes thoroughly and cut them into equal-sized pieces so they cook evenly. Finely chop the onion and crush the garlic.
2. Heat the sunflower oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Add the potatoes and fry for 3-5 minutes until they start to turn lightly golden.
3. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the pan with the potatoes. Stir well. Then, add the water, soy sauce, sugar, and honey. Bring the mixture to a boil.
4. Reduce the heat and let the potatoes simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent them from sticking to the pan. The potatoes should become tender and fully cooked.
5. Add the roasted sesame oil and stir everything well. Let it simmer for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
6. Sprinkle the dish with chopped spring onions and roasted sesame seeds for added flavor and crunch. Serve warm as a side dish.
