Hotteok, the Korean sweet pancake. Not to be confused or compared with the Dutch pancake! This pancake is a popular street food in Korea and we understand why! It is crispy on the outside and sweet on the inside. A delicious combination that you can now make yourself with this recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Rice Oil
- 1/4 tsp Cinnamon Powder
157 g Flour
0.5 tsp Salt
1 tsp White Sugar
1 tsp Instant dry yeast
125 ml lukewarm Milk
20 g caster Sugar
2 tbsp ground Peanuts
Preparation method for Hotteok
- Sift the flour into a large bowl and then add the salt, sugar, yeast and milk. Mix well with a whisk to form a ball of dough and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm spot (about an hour).
- Once the dough has risen, release the gas from the dough by hitting it several times with your hands. Cover again with the foil and let it rest for another 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile make the filling and set it aside until the dough is ready.
- When the dough is ready, put some cooking oil on your hands and separate the dough to make 6 medium sized pancakes.
- Place one of the pieces of dough on your hand, crush the dough with your hands so that you can add about 1 tablespoon of filling. Then make it "close" by bringing the corners together. Repeat for the remaining dough.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and, once heated, add a thin layer of rice oil.
- Place a few pancakes in the pan depending on the size of your pan and flatten it well. Bake over medium heat until the bottom is lightly golden brown (about 30 seconds). Turn it over and flatten the pancake again. Bake until the bottom part is golden brown (about 1 min). Turn the pancake one last time and reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan with a lid and bake for about 1 minute, so that the filling melts well.
- Sprinkle some black sesame seeds on top.
