Massaman is a mild curry from Thailand. Massaman curry originated from Indian and Malaysian influences and differs in taste from the other curries we know. It is a mixture of Indian & Thai spices. In this curry, they make use of potatoes which completely absorb the delicious flavor of the curry.

Ingredients
- 320 g Jasmine Rice (Fragrant Rice)
- 1 can Coconut Milk (14% Fat)
- 1 package Masman Curry Paste
- 1 stick Dalchini (Cinnamon Sticks)
- 1 tbsp Tamarind Paste
- 1/4 piece Palm Sugar Slices
- 15 ml Fish Sauce
600 g Beef fillets cut into pieces
450 g Potatoes cut into 2.5 cm pieces
1 onion sliced
85 g Unsalted roasted peanuts
Preparation method for Massaman Curry
- Cook the rice according to the instructions on the package.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut milk (use the cream on top if there is one) in a large pan with a lid. Add the curry paste and cook for 1 minute. Then stir in the beef and cook until everything is seared.
- Stir in the rest of the coconut milk together with half a can of water, the potatoes, onion, lime leaves, cinnamon, tamarind, palm sugar, fish sauce and almost all the peanuts. Bring to the boil, cover and let simmer on low heat for 2 hours until the meat is soft.
- Sprinkle with sliced chili (optional) and the remaining peanuts and serve with jasmine rice.
