Sajoer Lodeh is a popular Indonesian vegetable dish made with coconut milk. It is the perfect vegetarian side dish to your homemade Indonesian rice table. The addition of tofu and tempeh gives it a nice bite. You can make this dish with just about any kind of vegetables you have available. In this recipe we use pointed cabbage, Peteh beans, Young corn and Bamboo strips, among others. Selamat makan! (Tasty!)

Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Peanut Oil
- 5 g Trassie (Fried Shrimp Paste in Block)
- 50 g Corn young CHAOKOH can 425g/15-19pcs
- 100 g Bamboo Shoots (Strips)
- 400 ml Coconut Milk Tetra Pak (18% Fat)
200 g Tofu diced
100 g Tempeh sliced thinly
2 Onions in wedges
20 g Laos / Galanga root
5 Cloes of garlic: pressed
2 soup cubes
5 large Salam leaves
3 Djoeroek Peroet leaves
100 g Green beans
100 g Pointed cabbage
6 dl Water
15 Peteh beans halved
Salt and pepper
Preparation method for Sajoer Lodeh
- Cut the tofu in small cubes and the tempeh in thin slices.
- Half the onion and cut it in wedges.
- Peel the laos and crush it in a mortar or spice crusher.
- Sauté the tempeh and tofu in a wok and take them out after a couple of minutes.
- By using the same oil, sauté the onion, garlic and laos.
- Add the soup cubes, shrimp paste, salam leaves and djoeroek peroet.
- Add the remaining vegetables, tempeh and tofu and pour in the water. Then add the coconut milk and the peteh beans.
