Bami Goreng is a typical Indonesian dish and, of course, also incredibly popular in the Netherlands. Almost everyone makes it sometimes and everyone makes Bami Goreng (Goreng literally means fried) in his or her own way. In the Netherlands we often eat it as a main dish, but did you know that Bami Goreng is actually meant to be a side dish? In our recipe we make the Bami Goreng tasty with chicken strips. But you can also use diced fricandeau or ham or make the noodles vegetarian by not adding any meat. You can go either way with this versatile dish!

Ingredients
- 200 g Mie Noodles
- 2 tablespoon Peanut Oil
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
- 4 tbsp Sweet Soy Sauce (Ketjap Manis)
1 tsp Salt
200 g Chicken breast, cut into strips
1 Lemon (you'll need the juice)
1 Onion, cut into half-moons
6 Garlic cloves, cut into slices
300 g Kale, cut into strips
Preparation method for Noodles Goreng
- Soak the noodles in boiling hot water with 1 tsp salt for about 5 minutes until the noodles are al dente.
- Mix the chicken strips with the lemon juice.
- Heat the wok with 2 tablespoons oil and add the onions, garlic, stock cube and chicken to the wok and stir-fry until the chicken is cooked through.
- Add the noodles and stir in 5 tablespoons of soy sauce.
